Carpet is one of the best ways to turn a house into a home. It can brighten up rooms, add color or just make things feel more comfortable for your family. But if your family is just like any other family, you’ll likely come across a few difficult stains on your carpet. Here are some of the most common stains and how you can make them disappear like magic.
Ink
One of the greatest ways to combat ink in your carpet is with hairspray. Find some cheap, non-oily hairspray around your home and moisten the stain thoroughly with the hairspray. Then, you can blot the stain with a towel or cloth. Never rub the stain with the hairspray on it. Continue blotting until the majority of the stain is gone. Then, dab the area with some water on a clean cloth or towel.
Blood
Hydrogen peroxide is a go-to for many cleaning specialists when it comes to blood. If the blood is dry, you can use a steel brush to get most of it out of your carpet. Then, vacuum the particles and use hydrogen peroxide to blot out the rest. If the blood is wet, you can go ahead and go straight to the hydrogen peroxide.
Urine
White vinegar and baking soda can do wonders for urine stains on your carpet. With urine, it’s always best if you can catch the stain before it dries. Be sure to dab the stain with a towel to soak up as much of the urine as possible. Then, use vinegar and baking soda to bring the smell and stain out of the carpet. Baking soda and vinegar can also work on older urine stains as well.
No family is perfect. This is why we’re sharing solutions for those common carpet stains. Remember that if you take care of your carpet, it can last for a long time. And no stain has to stop that from happening.
